Following the continuing uncertainty of Brexit, we are letting you know that in the event of a 'no deal' after the 31st January 2020 you will almost certainty require a Green Card and an International Driving Permit to drive your vehicle to the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), Andorra, Serbia or Switzerland. Please be aware that you may need to have these documents before this date if you intend to travel prior to that date and will be out of the UK after the 31st October 2019.
International Drivers permits are available from most Post Offices, and you will need to bring the following to apply: full valid UK photo-card driving licence, a passport sized photo and your valid passport as proof of identification if presenting an older paper version licence.
Green Cards, are issued by your insurance company. However, your insurance policy WILL NOT automatically provide cover at this time, therefore, Insurers are preparing to issue Green Cards in the event of travel outside of the UK. You will need to contact us in order to obtain a Green Card from your insurer to travel with your vehicle. A Green Card will need to be issued on green paper for you to carry with your vehicle.
Please note whilst many insurers are able to issue a Green Card within 24 hours, your insurer may take up to 4 weeks to issue one, so please contact us immediately if you require one. Some insurers may charge a fee for issuing a Green Card. Please be aware that this process is currently manual and until your insurers offers cover within your policy we will charge a small administration fee. For our Fleet customers please advise us of all planned trips in one go to reduce your administration charges.
Please contact your Account Handler for further information or to request a Green Card.
