What is Public Liability Insurance?


Public liability insurance protects you (and your business) should a client or the public suffer an injury or property damage due to your business actions. It can pay for the costs legal expenses and / or compensation claims.


Do I need Public Liability Insurance?


Unlike Employers' Liability Insurance, Public Liability insurance is not a legal requirement. For some trades this may be required by thier regulatory bodies, or cover can also be required under a contractural obligation.

For example, clients (or locations) may stipulate that you must have a minimum level of insurance in place before you can commence work.



How much cover do I need?

As above you may be advised by your regulatory bodies, or customers how much cover is required, however usual cover options are £1,000,000 - £2,000,000 - £5,000,000 and £10,000,000
